Wax Temperature Chart
Wax Application Instructions
Slide Mountain Snowsport waxes are best applied using the hot-wax technique using an electric iron, plexiglass scraper, and brushes.
Application Instructions
Preparing to wax
- Scrape your bases with a plexiglass scraper to remove old wax.
- Perform any required tuning before waxing.
- For best results do one or more hot scrape applications with Slide Mountain wax to clean and penetrate your base.
Applying wax
- Set your iron to the specified temperature for the wax. See the temperature chart on the back.
- Hold the end of the wax bar to the surface of your hot iron to melt wax onto the surface of the base. Apply sparingly. Space drops evenly over the base. You should be able to wax approximately 5 snowboards or five pair of skis with one 100g bar.
- Set the bar down on the wrapper or stand up on the opposite end of the bar to prevent contamination by dust into the molten end of the bar.
- Run the hot iron over the surface of the base to melt the wax into the base. Use multiple passes to fully penetrate the base, leaving a thin, smooth coating.
- Let the base cool until warm to the touch. Do not let it cool to very cold before scraping. Slide Mountain waxes are hard and become difficult to scrape when cold.
- Scrape off the excess wax from the base and edges with a plexiglass scraper.
- Wear a respirator when brushing the base with wire, plastic, then horsehair brushes. This will open the structure and activate the wax for the fastest possible surface. Slide Mountain Snowsports waxes are non-toxic, but it’s best not to inhale the fine particles created by brushing.
